Genesis Magma Racing Confirms Unchanged Driver Line Up For 2027

Genesis Magma Racing has confirmed an unchanged six driver squad for the 2027 FIA World Endurance Championship following yesterday’s confirmation of an extended deal for Dani Juncadella.

Genesis Magma Racing Team Principal Cyril Abiteboul said: “Continuity is essential at this stage of our programme. Our drivers have built valuable knowledge of the GMR-001 Hypercar and strong working relationships with our technical team. They have also developed a positive dynamic and genuinely enjoy working together. Retaining the same line-up allows us to carry this experience and team spirit into 2027, continue developing the car efficiently and take further steps towards scoring points with both cars at every race.”

Genesis Magma Racing has ticked off several important milestones in their inaugural season including the #17 GMR-001 Hypercar scoring the programme’s first championship points in only its second race, at the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps. The same car later finished seventh at Lone Star Le Mans, the brand’s best result to date.

The team also finished the 24 Hours of Le Mans at its first attempt.

The #19 GMR-001 Hypercar then fought inside the top five for much of the 6 Hours of Fuji, before the #17 car secured Genesis Magma Racing’s first FIA WEC pole position at the 6 Hours of Barcelona, only seven races into the team’s debut season.

“Our drivers understand the car, our working methods and what we need to improve,” said Genesis Magma Racing Sporting Director Gabriele Tarquini. “They work very well together and have built a strong relationship with the entire team, so we are very pleased to continue with this group next season. Securing our first pole position in Barcelona was an important milestone and demonstrated how far we have come together in our debut season. We believe this group has the experience and potential to go even further. With the same drivers, we can build on these strong foundations, unlock further performance from the GMR-001 and fight regularly for points in 2027.”

The exact line-ups for the team’s two cars for the 2027 season will be confirmed ahead of the first race of the year.
