Danish flagged team KEO Racing is the latest team to confirm a move up from LMP3 to LMP2 for the 2020 ELMS season.
The irregular entrants in the ELMS and Michelin Le Mans Cup LMP3 class plan to field one of the Dallara P217 Gibsons previously owned by the Danish-flagged High Class Racing squad who has completed a move to ORECA this season in both the ELMS and FIA WEC.
Keo Racing’s statement refers to the team, “waiting for the possibilities for some new updates of the car, so we can be even more competitive.”
That seems to suggest that talks are still underway to allow a further change for the current cars to attempt to offset the performance advantage for the ORECA 07 that has seen a number of teams move from Dallara and Ligier chassis in LMP2 in recent weeks and months.
KEO plan to test drivers interested in joining the LMP2 project in a winter test programme before announcing their season line-up.
“We are looking forward to finding the perfect line-up and fight for good results in the series.
“The whole team is very excited about our entry into the LMP2 class, said Kim Olsen (Team Director)”.
KEO’s 2020 LMP3 plans meanwhile aren’t finalised either, the team working on potential entries in the Ultimate Cup, Michelin Le Mans Cup and Road To Le Mans races.
One other fall-out from the KEO move is the final confirmation that High Class Racing will not now contest the 2019/20 Asian Le Mans Series, with their primary Dallara race chassis now sold the team has decided to concentrate their efforts on the ELMS and their new-for 2019/20 FIA WEC campaign.
