British Racing Drivers Run In Support Of Health Service Charities

There has been a simply extraordinary response in the UK to fundraising efforts supporting staff and volunteers for our National Health Service as the response to the COVID-19 Pandemic takes its toll on those on the frontline of response.

Whilst many of the headlines over this effort are, quite correctly, dominated by the astonishing response to a 100-year-old war veteran, whose initial effort to raise £1000 as a 100th birthday effort by completing 100 walked lengths of his garden exploded into an expression of national support with the current total around £24 million from well over 1.1 million supporters.

That effort though is one of the thousands of other fundraising efforts with one of the latest underway co-ordinated by Sam Bird who reached out to his racing colleagues via the British Racing Drivers Club to encourage them to complete a solo Half Marathon (21.1km) and join in a joint fundraising effort too.

Almost 50 did so, and, as of Saturday evening, their combined efforts had reached over £28,000.

Well done one and all Ladies and Gentlemen.

It goes without saying that a contribution would be most welcome to this cause

Sam’s fundraising page can be found here, together with a list of those who ran on Saturday.

Half marathon done!!! Really pleased I did it. No training for it (2 days notice) running through snowdonia, blisters, pain, but £21,000 raised for the @NHSuk . That’s why we do it. #Race4NHS pic.twitter.com/0JjQ8frWv7
