Quinn Confirmed As Peugeot Factory Hypercar Driver

25-year-old British racer Alex Quinn will step up from his 2026 test and development driver role to be a full factory driver for Team Peugeot TotalEnergies from the 2027 season with a multi-year deal confirmed today.

Quinn joined the team’s development programme after impressing during the Bahrain Rookie Test in 2025 and has been a key part of the effort to develop the team’s heavily revised 9X8 Hypercar for the coming season.

Quinn is the second new factory driver to be confirmed by Peugeot Sport for the 2027 season after Robert Shwartzman was revealed to be an incoming signing last month.

He joins Peugeot after a meteoric rise through the ranks of LMP2.

A multiple karting champion, Alex went on to be named as ‘Rookie of the Year’ in both the British F4 Championship and the Formula Renault Cup before switching to endurance racing from 2023.

After assisting Ben Keating and Paul Loup Chatin to their IMSA Endurance title in 2023 with PR1 Mathiesen he has delivered race winning performances in the European Le Mans Series, Asian Le Mans Series and IMSA Weathertech Sportscar Championship.

His upward trajectory in sportscar racing has continued through a hugely successful 2026 season with the IMSA LMP2 title confirmed last weekend with a class win at Petit Le Mans for CrowdStrike Racing by APR following on from a Le Mans LMP2 Pro-Am win with the team in June and a class win at the Rolex 24 Hours in January.

News is expected very shortly on Alex’s likely Peugeot race debut.

“Becoming an official driver for Team Peugeot TotalEnergies in the FIA World Endurance Championship is a dream come true,” Quinn said.

“It has been fantastic working with the team throughout this year, both at the factory and during testing programmes. Stepping up to a full-time race seat is something I am incredibly excited about and something I feel ready for after my recent successes in other championships.

“Most importantly, I am extremely grateful to everyone at Team Peugeot TotalEnergies for this opportunity, and I hope this is the beginning of an exciting journey together.”

Emmanuel Esnault, team principal, Team Peugeot TotalEnergies, added: “We are delighted to promote Alex from a role of test and development driver to a full-time race driver role in 2027.

“Alex has demonstrated great abilities at the wheel of the car when testing with us and sporting achievements in LMP2 again this season.

“Alex’s pedigree is quite impressive as a Le Mans Winner in LMP2 Pro-Am, a Rolex Daytona LMP2 Winner, and a IMSA and ELMS race winner.

“This is the 2nd time that at Peugeot, we are promoting a young talent coming from the LMP2 landscape into a race driver role in LMH, and we are looking forward to race with him next year at the wheel of the evolved Peugeot 9X8.”
