Michael de Quesada will replace Frankie Montecalvo in the #12 AIM Vasser Sullivan Lexus RC-F GT3 for the IMSA Weathertech Series round at the Charlotte Roval, the team announced on Tuesday. Montecalvo will be attending his wedding which was scheduled before IMSA had to rework this season’s calendar due to Covid-19.
Montecalvo and Townsend Bell are currently sixth in the Driver’s Championship standings. De Quesada is the normal third driver for the team used during endurance races. He last drove with the team at Road Atlanta where he finished tenth in class in the #14 AIM Vasser Sullivan Lexus RC-F GT3.
This weekend’s race at the Charlotte Motor Speedway ROVAL is a GT-only race where IMSA will share the track with NASCAR, though not at the same time, obviously!
