The GT Association (GTA) has published an updated calendar for the 2021 Autobacs Super GT Series, adding second dates at Twin Ring Motegi and Fuji Speedway to replace the tentatively scheduled international rounds at Chang International Circuit in Buriram, Thailand and Sepang Circuit in Malaysia.
In the updated calendar, which was ratified on Wednesday by the Japan Automobile Federation (JAF), Fuji Speedway will now host the final race of the season, a standard 300-kilometre race scheduled for 28 November. It will be the second consecutive season that the Super GT Series will conclude at Fuji.
Twin Ring Motegi’s second race will be a 300km race held on 18 July, which was when the GTA had hoped to schedule its flyaway rounds at Buriram and Sepang, the latter of which has still yet to host a Super GT race since signing a multi-year deal in August 2019.
The remaining dates on the 2021 calendar remain unchanged from the provisional schedule that was published this past August. In addition, the 7 November race at Motegi, which was originally scheduled as the 2021 finale, has been lengthened from 250km to 300km. The only long-distance event remains the Fuji GT 500km Race, set for its traditional Golden Week date of Tuesday, 4 May.
