Jorg Muller Not Retained By BMW For 2013

With the news of the BMW Z4 GTE occupying our attention we missed last night that Jorg Muller has not been retained for 2013 by BMW with a factory contract.

That brings to an end one of the longest uninterrupted driver/ factory partnerships in modern motorsport, Muller’s link with the factory going back to his efforts in the BMW V12 LMR in 1999 at Le Mans and in the ALMS, taking the ALMS title in the M3 GTR in 2001 and contesting the ALMS again this year for RLL.

He served the factory’s needs in LMP, GT and touring cars and here’s hoping he’ll find a quality seat in his post factory career.

Maxime Martin meanwhile replaces Muller on the factory roster after a string of impressive results in GT3 machinery.
