London-based fans of old (and new) cars lovingly restored and displayed on finely-manicured lawns have an embarrassment of riches in the next couple of weeks, with not one, but two events to set them drooling at legends of the motoring world way beyond the budgets of most dailysportscar readers.
Dailysportscar’s fashion and society correspondent, John Brooks, is a devotee of both events, having attended them both in 2012.
First, the Salon Privé, held at Syon House, the London residence of the Duke of Northumberland, a truly magnificent setting at Syon Park, which runs from 4th to 6th September. The highlight of the event is the Concours d’Elegance itself, judging for which will take place on Wednesday 4th September. As well as the super- and hyper-cars on display are expected to be some new cars that are being shown in the UK for the first time.
Last year’s event featured cars from the ROFGO collection, as well as other magnificent exhibits in marvellous surroundings.

Second, the Concours of Elegance (a linguistic solecism if ever there was one), to be held this year in the Royal gardens of St James on 6th and 7th September. Last year, Mr Brooks found himself at Windsor Castle in the company of sixty stunning exhibits to celebrate each year of Queen Elizabeth II’s reign and the celebration will be repeated this year in a part of Central London not normally accessible to the public.
In addition to the amazing Concours cars will be a line-up of Lamborghinis to celebrate the marque’s 50th anniversary, plus the Royal Automobile Club will bring its ‘Spirit of Motoring’ Tour.
