The Creventic organisation have announced a further addition to their growing portfolio of races with their 24H Series now featuring a 5 race Calendar.
The ‘Professional MotorSport World Expo’ in Cologne saw the announcement of inaugural Dunlop 12H Italy-Mugello – to take place on 14-15 March 2014
“Italy not only being known for its excellent food, but also for its great motoring heritage and its stylish automobiles, we wanted to add a race in Italy to our portfolio for a very long time,” says Gerrie Willems on behalf of Creventic. “Now, we are more than happy to announce the Dunlop 12H Italy-Mugello. With this event, the five-round calendar of our 24H Series powered by Dunlop has been completed. Teams can submit their pre-entries as of now.”
After the Dunlop 12H Zandvoort, announced in August of this year with a very positive echo from teams, drivers and fans, the Dunlop 12H Italy-Mugello is the second new event to be added to the calendar of the 24H Series powered by Dunlop for 2014.
“The event fits in nicely between the Dunlop 24H Dubai and the Dunlop 12H Zandvoort. With its date in mid-March, it is a good opportunity for teams and drivers to get some competitive mileage in before the European racing season gets underway. And I have never heard of any events in Tuscany in March having been cancelled due to snow,” says Gerrie Willems.
The event caters for GTs, touring cars and 24H Specials, with the same class structure as at other rounds. Dunlop is the title sponsor and the exclusive tyre partner of the event. Refuelling during the race will be done with the circuit’s standard commercial fuel pumps, meaning that teams will not have to bring their own refuelling systems.
“Just like at Zandvoort, the grid capacity is limited, so we strongly advise teams to submit their entry or even their pre-entry as soon as possible.”
Building on the tradition of famous road racing events that had been held in Tuscany since the 1920s, the ‘Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello’ was opened as a permanent circuit in 1974. It has hosted international races for Formula 2 and Formula 3, FIA GT Championship, DTM and has been the venue for the Italian motorcycle Grand Prix since 1994.
