Having begun the season in a JRM Nissan GT-R, Strata21 pairing Paul White and Tom Onslow-Cole will be switching to Aston Martin power for this weekend’s British GT round at Rockingham and in all likelihood for the remainder of the season.
“Paul and I both have experience in the Aston Martin and now the Strata21 Vantage GT3 has become available, it makes sense for us to use it,” said Onslow-Cole. “It’s the car that got me addicted to GT racing, so I’m excited to be back out in it again this weekend.
“Rockingham has a great mix of corners, the infield is technical and tight and the banking at turn one is definitely a feature that’s unique. I can’t wait to let rip in the Aston Martin and get stuck into one of the longer races of the British GT Championship calendar.”
The previously Bilstein-liveried Vantage had been tied up in commitments at the Nürburgring and was, until recently, unavailable for the first half of the season. However, hard-work by the team at Aston Martin Racing has meant that the car is ready ahead of schedule. The Nissan connection isn’t at an end however, as White explains; “It was great news to hear that the Strata21 Vantage GT3 is ready for Tom and I to use. We had a great time racing the Nissan at Oulton Park and we plan to run the car again at some point this year – our relationship with JRM and JMH Automotive is still ongoing.
“However, it would be silly not to use our Aston Martin in the British GT Championship. It’s a championship-winning car and we plan to make a full assault on the 2014 title.“
This won’t be the first outing in the Vantage GT3 for Onslow-Cole and White, the pair having raced in the MSA British Endurance Championship last July alongside Aston Martin Racing team principal John Gaw.
“It’s great to have Tom and Paul back in the Vantage GT3,” said Gaw, who will be going up against the Strata21 in his own PGF-Kinfaun Vantage. “They are a great pairing that can challenge for the championship so it’s good to have them in the car. We look forward to seeing them race at Rockingham this weekend.”
