Australian Liam Talbot is one of the first international drivers to embrace the CN/ LMP3 class in the Asian Le Mans Series as he seeks to compete at Le Mans.
He has signed with the ATL Wolf Team Asia Racing Team to race in the Honda powered Wolf GB08.
Having tested the car at Sepang, he came back impressed and hopeful for the upcoming season.
“I was amazed at the CN prototype,” Talbot said. “It was unbelievable under brakes. With the carbon fibre tub and the high downforce, your brain tells you, you have to brake now, and it too early.”
“It is an unbelievable package and I don’t think people understand how quick these cars are.”
His teammate has yet to be confirmed but he is aiming to have a teammate that can help him win the Championship.
Talbot has been competing in the Radical Australia Series and the Australian GT Championship with success before this move to Asia.
“I’ve been lucky to try a few different car. A GT3 car behaves a lot differently to this. This car has the aero but the GT3 car has the power. It is like a Radical but times 10.”
Talbot is a latecomer to motorsports with the 2013 Bathurst 12 Hour being his fourth ever race but that didn’t stop him taking Class C with Robert Thompson and Romano Satori in a Lotus Exige S.
From his run at Bathurst he joined the Aston Martin driver training squad a Nurburgring and competed in the VLN where he impressed in a V8 Vantage. He is due to return to the track for the Nurbrugring 24 with a V12 Vantage and the Aston Martin Driving Centre team.
His ultimate goal is Le Mans in LMP2.
“We have a goal to drive an LMP2 at Le Mans and to get to your goal it is easier to think backwards and take logical steps that way. We’ve been thinking, what do we do and we’ve been progressing through the steps and the next step is the Asian Le Mans Series and the CN category.
“It is a very exciting category to keep learning and get experience.”
