GT Open & GT Cup Live On Motors TV This weekend

The second round of the International GT Open from Portimão is shown on Motors TV this weekend, Saturday’s Race 1 delayed but Race 2 live on Sunday morning, presented by Mark Cole and Tom Gaymor.

The Belgian SRT Corvette squad leads the points after a win at the Nürburgring opener, with Maxime Soulet hoping for a repeat in the heat of the Portuguese Algarve, but without Nicky Catsburg this time, the Pro driver replaced by Kurdish Am driver Isaac Tutumlu. The other Eifel win also went to Corvette, but to the Dutch V8 Racing team of Pros Nicky Pastorelli and Miguel Ramos – Ramos will be looking for a home win, but there is strong opposition from the Russian Racing Bears Ferrari of Roman Mavlanov and Daniel Zampieri which took two second places at the ‘Ring.

Series organiser Jesus Pareja has attracted a 21-car entry for Portimão, among them Italian Porsche frontrunner EbiMotors starting its 2014 campaign. There are a number of drivers who will be making the dash from Faro airport on Sunday afternoon to make Le Mans scrutineering; Matt Griffin, Archie Hamilton, Michele Rugolo and Paolo Ruberti among them.

Motors will also be showing the 45-minute GT Cup pitstop race from Silverstone tomorrow afternoon (Saturday) at 15.25. This will be the headline event in an afternoon of live racing from the Northamptonshire circuit. A grid of over thirty GT cars will be racing around the International circuit configuration using the Formula One specification ‘Wing’ pit complex.
