Dunlop Tests 2015 Tyres At Monza

Dunlop start track testing some 2015 LMP2 developments at Monza this week. The British tyre manufacturer has become the benchmark in terms of LMP2 rubber and shows no signs of letting up its testing for its partners.

After securing a fourth consecutive Le Mans 24 Hours LMP2 success in June, Dunlop is pushing harder than ever to ensure their advantage is maximised. After all, new LMP2 tyre suppliers are expected to be announced before the end of the season (more on this later today on DSC).

Jota Sport is at Monza this week with Simon Dolan and Harry Tincknell slated to drive the Zytek LMP2 car on some new compound of Dunlop tyres. The team has as yet not publicly confirmed their 2015 programme but they are expected to remain in the ELMS and to defend their LMP2 title at Le Mans.

The testing at Monza this week will include laps that by-pass the Rettifilo chicane, something that Audi tried out in both 2013 and this year to refine their low-downforce Le Mans aero package.

Murphy Prototypes are present too with Alex Kapadia amongst the drivers for the team’s Oreca 03R Nissan.

Dunlop is also continuing development of their 2015 GT tyres with a Ferrari 458 at Monza on hand for the test. The intention at the moment is for a range of GT tyres to be available including tyres appropriate for LMGTE Pro and Am plus a VLN specific development.
