Neel Jani simply stormed around in the early minutes of the second 90 minute free practice session, the circuit floodlights illuminating a full night session 1:43.375 for the #14 Porsche would end the session as a mark almost a full second clear of the remainder of the field.
Behind the Swiss came another (Buemi) but it was actually his partner in the #8 Toyota that set the fastest times this time for the car, Ant Davidson with a 1:44.233.
Mark Webber was next up in the #20 Porsche, the top three separated by just over a second, the top four by two econds with the first of the Audis in the 1:45s
Rebellion meanwhile were again over five seconds off the ultimate pace with Pierre Kaffer the best man aboard the refettled CLM it joined in the sesssion at around the halfway mark mnahing a time around 10 seconds down and reported at the end of the session to be losing oil.
LMP2 saw Roman Rusinov ousted from the top spot by Maurizio Mediani before Anton Ladygin grabbed top spot in the #37 SMP Oreca, Richard Bradley almost matching his time in the #47 KCMG car.
Before the halfway point in the session Julien Canal got within a tenth of the Russian before Olivier Pla demolished the time, only man in the 1:51s in the class, a 1:51.581 is best effort.
In the GTE order the #97 Aston Martin of Stefan Mucke initially topped an Aston 1,2,3 but Klaus Bachler would put the #88 Proton Porsche on top before 20 minutes of the session were completed.
Gimmi Bruni though restored Pro pride with a 1:59.4 before Nicki Thiim put the session to the sword with a time a full second faster! 1:58.440 – an Am class car again topping the times.
Jorg Bergmeister managed third fastest in GTE with a 1:59.7, this time third fastest of the seven GTEs to break 2 minutes.
