The North American International Auto Show in Detroit today welcomed a new American Hypercar, the new for 2016 Ford GT.

The latest baton holder for the legend of the GT4 debuts next year, with a GTE race version due to be announced in the coming months.

For now though we’ll have to be satisfied with the initial specs from the road car. No fire breathing V8 this time! Instead the 2016 car will feature Ecoboost engine technology, a twin turbocharged 3.5 litre V6 banging out “more than 600 bhp, all of it delivered through the rear wheels.
The car features a state of the art carbon chassis with power to weight numbers likely to be further headline grabbing aspects of the cars spec.

There’s active aero too, plus pushrod suspension, adjustable ride height and upward-swinging doors.
