Zandvoort To Replace Baku As Blancpain Sprint Finale

The SRO announced today that the final round of the 2015 Blancpain Sprint Series has been moved to the 10th and 11th of October, and will be held at Circuit Park Zandvoort due to economic reasons effecting the original plans.

Originally slated to be on the run on streets of Baku in Azerbaijan on the 24th and 25th of October, the alteration means the final two rounds of the season will be held on consecutive weekends. The penultimate round at Misano is slated to be run week before the new date at Zandvoort.

“Even though the announcement came as a surprise, with the third edition of the Baku World Challenge having been confirmed as part of a three-year agreement, SRO Motorsports Group would like to thank all who have been involved in the two previous editions of the Baku World Challenge,” said SRO CEO Stephane Ratel. “They were two fantastic events which greatly contributed to the global growth of GT Racing. I am also happy that we have found a fitting alternative by organising the final round of the 2015 Blancpain GT Series on the challenging Zandvoort circuit.”

The SRO are no strangers to Zandvoort. The Sprint Series ran at the Dutch circuit last year, and the FIA GT3 and FIA GT held races there back in 2011 and 2013 respectively.
