After heavy rain caused major issues in FP2 and FP3 on Thursday the final Free Practice session on Friday morning was thankfully started in rather drier conditions with drizzle intervening mid-session.
Before then Action Express Racing’s Joao Barbosa set a session best of 1m23.232s ahead of the #01 Ganassi Riley Ford (Scott Dixon).
With the track in a far less than optimum condition it was a GT car third fastest overall as Nick Tandy posted a 1:24.015 in the #911 Porsche 911 RSR
RSR Racing’s Jack Hawksworth was fifth overall in the #11 Oreca, fastest in PC under 2 tenths back from the Porsche (1:24.198), and Kuno Wittmer topped GT Daytona in the #007 TRG-AMR Aston Martin V12 Vantage (1:28.376).
The session was the first of the meeting in the Tudor United Sportscar Championship meeting not to feature a red flag stoppage.
