Hankook 24H Dubai Announces Maximum Grid Capacity Reached For 2016 Race

More than two months prior to the eleventh running of the Hankook 24H Dubai (January 14-16, 2016), the opening round of the 2016 24H Series, the maximum grid capacity has already been reached.

“All the slots have been taken,” says Gerrie Willems on behalf of Dutch agency Creventic, promoters and organisers of the 24H Series powered by Hankook in co-operation with the Dutch National Racing Team (DNRT).

“The tenth running of the event in January this year was already a huge success that we believed could not be topped, but reality proved to be different. Teams that sign up from now will be put on a waiting list.”

The event at Dubai Autodrome will mark the debut of the new Mercedes-AMG GT3 in a 24-hour race and will also feature the new Audi R8 LMS and Lamborghini Huracan GT3 on the grid plus the spectacular new Renault R.S. 01 silhouette car.

“We are really pleased and honoured with the great interest from teams from all over the world,” Gerrie Willems says.

The provisional entry lists 93 cars with 24 in the top A6 (GT3 class) with a pair apiece for new Benz (Black Falcon), Audi (C.ABT and Optimum) and Lamborghinis (HB Racing and Konrad Motorsport)

The 997 class proves popular once again, 20 cars are listed with 17 to the current 991 GT3 Cup specification.

The Boutsen Ginion Renault RS.01 headlines the SP2 class alongside a pair of Marc Cars Australia Focus V8s defending their 2015 class titles. There’s a third MARC V8, this time a Mazda 3 bodied car entered by the Red Camel-Jordans.nl team.

There’ a healthy 13 car entry in the SP3 (GT4) class with more than half the class filled by Ginettas, six of the seven this year to the updated G55 spec.

The race is set to see another 24 hour racing debut, RTR Projects enter a Reiter KTM XBow GT4.
