There are senior management changes announced today for both Audi Sport and Lamborghinis as Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelman (below) moves to Quattro Gmbh and former Ferrari F1 boss Stefano Domenicali comes in to lead Lamborghini after a spell with Audi.
Both changes are understood to be taking place almost immediately.
Winkelmann leaves Lamborghini after 11 years which have seen huge growth for the Italian supercar maker transforming the company both in reputation and in profitability. Auto Express offer the opinion that Winkelman will be making the move through partly gritted teeth, keen to be involved with the launch of the forthcoming Urus SUV but moving to an arm of the VAG empire that is, if anything, in a state of even more rapid growth.
Stefano Domenicali meanwhile moves in the opposite direction from Audi to Lamborghini, perhaps the fiercest market rival to his previous employer Ferrari. Interesting times ahead!
