Paul Hollywood, star of the BBC hit show The Great British Bake-off is to enter the final three rounds of the 2016 British GT Championship aboard a Beechdean AMR Aston Martin Vantage GT4.
Hollywood raced for the team in 2015 in a debut season that included a GT Cup victory, and several podium finishes in the Britcar Championship, together with an all too brief outing in the Beechdean GT4 car in the All-Aston support race at the Le Mans 24 Hours, the race red fagged after an early off for another competitor.
There has been no announcement of the co-driver for Hollywood but 2015 GT4 Champion Jamie Chadwick is named on the season entry list in the car and is understood to be involved in at least some of the racing outings this season, as well as driver coaching duties – all this amongst a year where Jamie’s primary focus, quite correctly, is on her impending A-Levels!
The currently confirmed programme for the car consists of Spa Francorchamps (8/9th July), Snetterton (6/7th August) and the championship finale at Donington Park (10/11th September).
Reigning British GT3 champion and Beechdean AMR team owner, Andrew Howard: “It is great to have Paul back with us this year. The progression he made last year was excellent and we look forward to him developing in one of the most competitive GT Championships in the world.”
Paul Hollywood: “Following my time in the GT4 last year, I am really excited to get behind the wheel and to be affiliated to a team like Beechdean who have dominated the sport over the last few years”
