Turner To Stand In For Adam At ELMS Opener

Aston Martin Racing factory driver Darren Turner will join Andrew Howard and Alex Macdowall at Beechdean AMR for the first round of the 2016 European Le Mans Series on 15th/16th April at Silverstone.

Due to the unfortunate clash of competitions, (with both the British GT at Brands Hatch and the ELMS race at Silverstone taking place on the same weekend), previously announced and fellow Aston Martin Racing factory driver Jonny Adam will be absent from the ELMS season opener. The reigning British GT GT3 champion will return to Beechdean AMR and ELMS later in the season.

Darren Turner, a driver with over 10 years of Aston Martin GT experience, will be another great asset to the Beechdean AMR team. Team Boss and driver Andrew Howard commented on this change of line up stating “I am going to miss my fellow divorcee (in reference to Adam), but it is great to be back racing with Darren. I raced with him in 2010 and look forward to learning from his vast experience in the GTE car”.

Darren Turner commented on his addition to the team stating, “I am really looking forward to joining the Beechdean AMR team and driving with Andrew, and Alex in the first round of ELMS. It is great to be back driving with Andrew, after many years. The championship looks strong and it will be a hard fought race at Silverstone”

Beechdean AMR team owner Andrew Howard will compete at both Brands Hatch for the British GT and at the ELMS race at Silverstone. But with a time schedule so tight, the risk for Jonny Adam as a factory driver, in this, both the opening race of a world championship season, and the home race for AMR, was felt to be a bridge too far.
