There was an interesting response to a question from the DSC Editor on yesterday’s ‘Technical Thursday’ live show in the Le Mans pitlane for Radio Le Mans.
René Rast, polesitter tomorrow for G-Drive Racing in their #26 Oreca 05 Nissan, confirmed that he was the nominated Audi Sport reserve driver for the Le Mans 24 Hours but also added a further clarification:
“I am still with the Audi LMP1 programme whereas (2015 third car drivers) Felipe Albuquerque and Marco Bonanomi are not.”
Could that indicate that, at present at least, Audi is not counting on returning with a third LMP1 car in 2017?
