Following the two significant incidents during this morning’s Warm-Up session, DSC can report that both LMP2 cars involved are undergoing frantic attention in their bids to ready the cars for the start of the 84th running of the Le Mans 24 Hours.
Panis Barthez Competition is confident of getting its Ligier JS P2 fully repaired prior to the flag dropping. A race engineer told DSC that Paul Loup Chatin’s impact caused right-hand suspension damage, the car also requiring attention to its steering assembly.
“The team are going for it, we hope to have it ready for the race,” he said.
Further down the pit lane, the Baxi DC Racing Alpine crew is having to rebuild the right-hand side of the car.
DSC observed attention to the front-right suspension, radiator and cooling systems, as well as the driveshaft and cockpit instrumentation module.
With the radiator removed, there appeared to be no significant damage to the tub itself, but the fittings for the side-pod were a cause for concern. DSC reached out to a mechanic, who said that at this time there was “no information”.
