UltraTek Racing has confirmed that it is rejoining the British GT Championship for the final two rounds of the season at Snetterton and Donington Park with a Lotus Evora GT4. Team owner Richard Taffinder will sharing the driving with fellow countryman Martin Plowman.
This news comes after Taffinder had to suspend his team’s plans to run the full season after commitments outside of racing with his numberplate business required his full attention.
Nevertheless, Taffinder and the UltraTek team are back and focused on racing after its exploratory debut year in the championship in 2015, and this weekend at Snetterton – with Stratton Motorsport helping to prepare and run the car – marks the first step of the outfit’s three-year plan to get to Le Mans.
“It’s a great opportunity for me to be a part of Richard’s project,” Plowman told DSC. “The plan is for me to be involved and partnered with him in his journey to racing at Le Mans.
“In terms of this weekend though, we have to be realistic, of course we want to win, but just having good enjoyable weekend and keeping the car clean is the main focus after a break from his racing.
“In preparation, I’ve done a short shakedown of the Evora to get a feel for it again, and Richard and I have done a lot of simulator work together to help reduce the learning curve and to help us understand each other as drivers.
“He’s calm and collected ahead of the weekend and is eager to get the job done against such a high quality GT4 field this year.”
