Bahrain: Thursday Paddock Notes 2, New 911 RSR For Bahrain Paddock Display

Lou Beckett stands still in pitlane for once!

Porsche’s brand new 2017 spec 911 RSR will be on display in the paddock over the race weekend, the Bahrain car a second chassis with the car unveiled at the LA Autoshow yesterday remaining at the show throughout.

The support package for the FIA WEC includes Porsche Carrera Cup Middle East, the second consecutive appearance of a Porsche one-make Series on the WEC bill after the Asian Championship appeared on the support card in Shanghai last time out.

British GT racer Tom Oliphant and 2016 Michelin GT3 Le Mans Cup Championship winner Salih Yoluc are amongst the drivers in the Carrera Cup order.

Also in support once again is the MRF Challenge, the 2 litre single seaters again doling out an interesting grid including Harrison Newey, son of Adrian Newey, Mick Schumacher, son of seven-time F1 champion Michael Schumacher. Joining them will be German F4 Champion Joey Mawson, 2015 Italian F4 Champion and F3 race winner Ralf Aron, Japanese F3 Champion Yoshiaki Katayama and Manuel Maldonado, cousin of former F1 race winner Pastor Maldonado.

The ByKolles team and the WEC TV crew are the latest bunch to take up the ‘Mannequin Challenge’ with this little sequence put together yesterday – WEC TV’s Louise Beckett part played particularly convincingly, Lou presumably grateful to stand still in a pitlane for once!
