Barbosa Set For IMSA Return At Road America

After receiving full medical clearance

Action Express driver Joao Barbosa has been cleared to return to racing at next weekend’s MSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship round at Road America, after sitting out the races at Watkins Glen and CTMP.

Barbosa suffered an injury during training back in June, which forced him to skip the aforementioned races, ending his remarkable run of 120 consecutive race starts as a result.

“I’m very excited to be back, it has been a long time!” said Barbosa. “I’ve been doing everything I can to be as ready as possible and training as hard as the doctors will let me. I was at the shop this week and just working on getting in and out of the car to be sharp for our driver changes. I’m looking forward to getting back and Road America is a great place to do it!”

In his absence, Christian Fittipaldi raced in the #5 Mustang Sampling-backed Cadillac DPi V.R, alongside full season driver Filipe Albuquerque. IndyCar driver Gabby Chaves also joined the team during Barbosa’s time away at Watkins Glen.
