Yelolly Named BMW Factory Driver

His debut with the brand will be in China GT

Racing Point F1 simulator driver and former Porsche Super Cup ace Nick Yelolly has been named a BMW factory driver ahead of the 2019 season.

The Briton will drive GT3 machinery for the Bavarian brand and announced on Twitter that his full programme for the year will be defined and announced in due course.

Despite his experience racing Porsche one-make machinery, he does have experience racing BMWs, after competing in two Blancpain Endurance Cup rounds last season with ROWE Racing. He also drove a BMW M4 DTM in a Rookie Test back in December last year at Jerez.

“So happy to announced that I have joined the BMW factory squad,” he said. “My first race will be in Kuala Lumpur in three weeks time with AAi driving an M6 GT3 (in China GT). The rest of my programme will be released bit by bit at a later date.

“This is a dream come true for me. This is just the beginning, let’s go 2019!”
