Inter Europol’s Asian Le Mans Effort Expands To Three Cars

Five of the team's six seats now filled

Reigning Asian Le Mans Series LMP3 champion Inter Europol Competition has announced that it will run three cars in the forthcoming 2019/20 season.

The Polish team has added a second LMP2 Ligier JS P217, and a single Ligier JS P3 to its commitment, as it looks to build on its hugely successful debut season in 2018/19, during which it won two of the four races in the LMP3 class, and the title.

In the team’s second Ligier JS P217, which will run in the new-look LMP2 class featuring the current crop of chassis, LMP2 newcomers Nathan Kumar and John Corbett will drive.

“I am really excited to be getting back to Asia and getting to know the LMP2,” said Kumar. “I raced at Shanghai in an LMP3 but the other circuits will be new for me. I work really well in the heat, so we will be hunting for good results.”

The team’s JS P3 meanwhile, will see its current European Le Mans Series duo of Nigel Moore and reigning Asian Le Mans LMP3 champion Martin Hippe pair up for the winter programme.

“It will be another exciting Asian Le Mans Series season in LMP3,” added Hippe. “The expectations are high, but the pressure of defending the title will make it even better.”

Inter Europol’s other (previously announced #34) JS P217, will feature Kuba Smiechowski and a yet-to-be-announced second driver.

“It’s good news to be able to announce two more cars in the Asian Le Mans Series,” said team director Michael Keese. “We are happy to have John and Nathan with the team.

“They are both new to racing in the LMP2. And as John has not raced any of the tracks and Nathan has only done Shanghai, it will be a steep learning curve for both. Martin and Nigel will be our drivers who will push to extend the title, a big task, but if anybody can do it, they can.”
