Three days of testing, hosted by United Autosports at the Circuit de Algarve, followed on from the final ELMS weekend of the season.
The three days saw a rolling programme of teams and drivers on track with a range of programmes from testing some of the new for 2020 LMP3 cars, tyre testing for WEC with Goodyear and Michelin, tyre testing for the 2020 ELMS, new drivers looking at potential new programmes and more.
There were a handful of GT cars present, Monday saw just four cars in evidence, the two Luzich Racing Ferraris, their Championship-winning car in ELMS and their second-placed GT3 car in Michelin Le Mans Cup both in a pit garage ready to run on Tuesday.
The final garage in the pit lane was occupied by Aston Martin Racing, the factory team tyre testing ahead of the WEC race at Shanghai in two weeks time.
They were in the midst on Monday morning of converting the Beechdean GT3 Vantage to full GTE spec ahead of track time today, the car featuring the Beechdean roof section but otherwise the factory green bodywork, with Ross Gunn staying on to perform driving duties, joined by Maxime Martin who flew in to join the test after competing in a Citroen C1 24 Hour race over the weekend.
The only GT car seen on track by DSC on Monday before heavy rain fell in the early afternoon was the EbiMotors Porsche 911 RSR, the car rented by Proton Competition for the test as the team look forward to the 2020 ELMS with a couple of significant new drivers, more news on that as soon as we are allowed to write it!
The EbiMotors hire was necessary after the comprehensive demolition of both of the team’s ELMS 911 RSRs in the huge lap one multi-car accident.
