Felipe Fraga in the #4 Team Black Falcon Mercedes-AMG GT3 qualified on pole for the 24 Hours of CoTA. Fraga’s best time was a 2:05.697.
“We have the [telemetry] in the car, so we can compare every corner,” Jeroen Bleekemolen, one of Fraga’s teammates, explained to radiolemans.com’s Joe Bradley. “And I was really close the whole lap until I hit traffic and lost a couple of tenths. I tried to make up for it but I couldn’t. But the car is great and Felipe did a perfect lap. It’s great to be back!”
The #70 TokSport Mercedes-AMG GT3 ended the session in second. That car’s best time was a 2:06.178 set by Nick Foster. Mercedes locked out the top three with the help of the #90 TokSport entry which ended the session in third with a time of 2:06.616 being set by Luca Stolz.
In the 991 class, the class dedicated to Porsche 911 Cup cars, the #906 Kelly-Moss Road and Race Porsche 911 qualified on pole. Alan Metni set the car’s best time which was a 2:11.160.
The #980 MRS GT-Racing Porsche ended the session in second with Constantin Scholl setting a time of 2:14.286. The #911 Porsche Lorient Racing entry qualified third after Frederic Ancel set a time of 2:14.809.
Philip Ellis in the #433 Winward Racing Mercedes-AMG GT4 qualified on pole in the GT4 class. Ellis’ best time was a 2:17.239. The #451 Sorg Rennsport BMW M4 GT4 ended the session in second. That car’s best time was a 2:18.713 from Jason Hart.
Rounding out the top three in GT4 was the #401 Racers Edge Motorsports Sin R1. Jade Buford set that car’s best time, a 2:18.864.
The 2019 running of 24H CoTA starts at 11.30 hrs local time in Texas, and will run uninterrupted until the overnight intervention starts at 22.30 hrs. On Sunday morning at 08.00 hrs, the race will restart and will run uninterrupted until 21.00 hrs local time.
