Corvette C8.R To Compete In FIA WEC Race At Sebring

30 cars on the entry

The Corvette C8.R will take part in the FIA World Endurance Championship 1000 Miles of Sebring as part of the IMSA-WEC double-header in March.

A single C8.R has appeared on the provisional entry for the 1000-mile FIA WEC race, which was released today. This means that Corvette Racing will take on two important endurance races during the weekend once again, with the team running two full-season C8.Rs in the IMSA 12-hour contest.

The Corvette that competes in the FIA WEC race will run as #63. Currently, no drivers are confirmed.

This is a real boost to the GTE Pro entry list, which is down to six full-season factory cars. The total is now seven for Sebring, a season-high.

It will not be the C8.R’s first FIA WEC race, however, as Corvette Racing will compete in the rescheduled WEC six-hour race at CoTA next month.

The car made its global debut last weekend at the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona, the better of the two coming home fourth in GTLM.

Elsewhere on the entry, three full-season Formula E drivers that are on the FIA WEC entry are listed on the WEC list for Sebring. Toyota’s Brendon Hartley and Sebastien Buemi, as well as AF Corse’s James Calado, will seemingly miss the E-Prix at Sanya which clashes.

LMP2 drivers Nyck de Vries (Racing Team Nederland) and Antonio Felix da Costa (Jota) however, will race in Formula E and skip the WEC race at Sebring. Job van Uitert is set to sub for de Vries in the Racing Team Nederland ORECA. A replacement for Da Costa at Jota hasn’t been named.

There’s one omission from the full-season list, as Silverstone-winning LMP2 team Cool Racing doesn’t feature.
