Corvette Racing programme manager Doug Fehan is to leave his post after a stellar quarter century of success.
After being appointed to his post in 1996, Fehan oversaw the design and development of the Corvette C5-R (below) that would go on to racing success on both sides of the Atlantic from its debut in 1999.
That process of design, development and delivery of stunning success for the Corvette brand was repeated four further times by Fehan’s team with the progressive roll-outs of the C6.R (in both GT1 and GT2 versions) C7.R and latterly the current C8.R.
All told Fehan’s 22 race season tenure in post has seen the Corvette Racing team take 14 team championships, 13 manufacturers’ title, and 13 drivers Championship titles.
That astonishing tally includes 113 race victories from 238 races started in the IMSA Weathertech Sportscar championship, American Le Mans Series, Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona, Le Mans 24 Hours and with guesting appearances in the FIA World Endurance Championship too.
Amongst the Blue Riband events that silverware has been collected by the team in industrial quantities in Fehan’s time in post are:
8 class wins at the Le Mans 24 Hours;
12 class wins at the 12 Hours of Sebring;
3 class wins at the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona – including a famous overall win in 2001; and
8 class wins at Petit Le Mans.
He leaves after a season that saw the team deliver a clean sweep of available titles, Manufacturer, team and Drivers crowns going the way of the men in yellow in 2020.
Doug Fehan joins fellow long-service team players Driver Oliver Gavin and Crew Chief Dan Binks in leaving the squad in 2020. GM Racing director Mark Kent left his post in the summer with Mark Stielow named as the company’s Director of Motorsports Competition and Engineering in September.

“Doug’s passion and enthusiasm created an incredible connection with race fans around the world. Any fan who met Doug will never forget him.”
Fehan’s replacement has not yet been named.
