Simon Pagenaud topped the first 60-minute practice session at the Roar test before the Rolex 24 Hours (UPDATE: No he didn’t it was a driver id mix-up, it was team-mate Kamui Kobayashi!, the 2019 Indy 500 winner posted a 1:35.312 aboard the currently Rolex 24-only entered #48 Ally Cadillac DPi.
That time was almost four-tenths clear of the #10 Wayne Taylor Racing Acura in the hands of Ricky Taylor with Filipe Nasr rounding out the top three in the #31 Whelen Engineering Cadillac a further couple of tenths down.
In LMP2 Nicolas Lapierre topped the times in the #52 PR1 Mathiesen Oreca, a 1:37.741 for the multi Le Mans 24 Hours class winning Frenchman.
Ferdinand Habsburg was second fastest in the class in the #20 High Class Oreca with Gabriel Aubry third quickest in the #8 Tower Motorsports 07.
The fastest LMP3 time topped the best of the GTLMs with double Michelin Le Mans Cup Champion Laurents Hörr posting a 1:43.655 in the #6 Muehlner Motorsports America Duqueine that was just 25 thousandths faster than James Calado’s 1:43.680 that topped GTLM in the #62 Risi Competizione Ferrari.
Scott Andrews and Wayne Boyd were next fastest in LMP3 in their Ligier’s, Andrews a 1:43.742 in the #74 Riley Motorsports JS P320, reigning ELMS LMP3 Champion Boyd less than a tenth back in the #33 Sean Creech Motorsports car.
The top three in GTLM was rounded out by a 1:44.067 by Jordan Taylor in the #3 Corvette C8.R and Philipp Eng with a 1:44.183 in the #25 BMW Team RLL M8 GTE.
Christina Nielsen was back with a bang in GTD, topping the times in the #88 Team Hardpoint EBM Porsche 911 GT3 R with a 1:46.194.
Matteo Cressoni was second quickest in the class, a 1:46.505 in the #21 AF Corse Ferrari with Maro Engel third quickest in the #57 HTP Winward AMG GT3 Evo with a 1:46.525.
46 of the 49 car entry posted a time with the # Corvette, #29 Racing Team Nederland LMP2 Oreca and #111 GRT Lamborghini posting no time.
