FIA World Motorsport Council Decisions

WEC Calendar - LMH/ LMDH Technical Convergence - Current LMP2 until end 2023

The FIA World Motorsport Council, which met today in Monaco, has released the following decisions confirmed by the Council:

The revised 2021 FIA World Endurance Championship calendar is now approved with he double-header in Bahrain confirmed:

26-27 April Belgium Official Prologue – Spa-Francorchamps
1 May Belgium TOTAL 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps
13 June Portugal 8 Hours of Portimão
18 July Italy 6 Hours of Monza
21-22 August France 24 Hours of Le Mans
30 October Bahrain 6 Hours of Bahrain
6 November Bahrain 8 Hours of Bahrain

Technical regulations amendments defined to achieve performance convergence of Le Mans Hypercar (LMH) and Le Mans Daytona h (LMDh) have also been approved permitting the two different rulesets to race together in the FIA World Endurance Championship.

The Council have also confirmed that the existing LMP2 technical regulations will be retained until the end of 2023 meaning that any move to the planned new LMP2 regulations based around the new chassis that will be common to the LMDh cars will not take place before the 2024 season.

Sporting and Technical regulations for the LMP3 Endurance Cup, part of this year’s FIA Motorsport Games, have been approved.
