GT3 Qualifying
As usual, the GT3 class was out first, the smaller than usual field sporting two Iron Lynx Ferrari’s and the PZ Oberer Zürichsee by TFT Porsche duking it out for bragging rights.
It was Nikki Leutwiler who made the initial running and the Porsche driver eventually posted a very strong 2.20.691 to outpace the two Iron Lynx drivers.
Gabriele Lancieri chased that time throughout the session and bettered it at the end of qualifying. His 2:20.299 proving too strong for Leutwiler to contend with.
Further adrift was Manuela Gostner in the second of the two Iron Lynx Ferraris, her 2.22.322 was substantially quicker than her best time of the weekend, albeit over two seconds adrift of pole position.
LMP3 Qualifying
The LMP3 class provided a stunning battle for pole position. Antoine Doquin was fastest out of the gates in his COOL Racing Ligier JSP320 and for a while, his 2:14.961 looked good enough for pole position. It wasn’t and as the Frenchman slipped down the order it became apparent that Spa-Francorchamps was where Phoenix Racing excels.
First Thorsten Kratz moved forward but his eventual 2:13.832 was later eclipsed by the sister entry of Finn Gehrsitz who clocked a massive 2:13.704 in the bronze driver only session.
There were plenty of pleasant surprises throughout the field with Audunn Gudmundsson placing the Team Thor Ligier seventh, just ahead of the TS Corse car of Pietro Peccenini, possibly the two prettiest cars in the field.
Championship leaders Nielsen Racing qualified ninth and have some work to do for this afternoon’s race.
