Three-time DTM Champion and multiple winner of major endurance races Rene Rast is the second driver confirmed by Audi Sport as part of their factory line-up for the LMDH programme set to field a two-car effort in the FIA WEC from 2023. He will join Nico Mueller in the Audi LMDH squad.
Rast, who raced in the past season for the Audi factory Formula E team is set to return to the DTM in 2022 after a four year run in the German Championship saw him score title wins in 2017, 2019 and 2020, finishing as runner-up in 2018!
Rast’s WEC history is limited with a near full season as part of the G-Drive LMP2 effort scoring his only win, at the Bahrain season finale.
The Audi LMDH effort is set to be based around the Multimatic chassis with a VAG twin-turbo V8 set to be the powerplant for the Audi, Porche and, from 2024, Lamborghini LMDH cars.
