Upgrades For Ligier JS P4 & JS2 R In 2022

New cars or upgrade kits, mandatory for Ligier's one-make Series' from 2022

With the end of the 2021 racing season fast approaching, Ligier Automotive has presented upgrades to the Ligier JS P4 sport prototype and Ligier JS2 R GT of the 2022 season.

The upgrades focus on the engine and brakes to improve the performance of the two cars. The Ligier JS2 R will also receive improved aerodynamics.

While these modifications are now standard on the new production models, a kit is available for models from previous years.

Mandatory in the two Ligier single-make series, the Ligier JS Cup France and the Ligier European Series, the new versions are also eligible in the other competitions that feature these models.

The Ligier JS P4 sport prototype and Ligier JS2 R GT were introduced in 2018 and 2019 respectively with the updates designed as an evolution of the initial concepts.

“The idea was not to redesign everything,” explains Jacques Nicolet, President of Ligier Automotive. “But simply to offer the drivers developments to increase comfort, driving pleasure and overall performance.”

More horsepower for the Ligier JS P4

Ligier Automotive is offering more power for the Ligier JS P4 sport prototype. The 3.7-litre Ford V6 engine will have an extra 55 horsepower from 330 to 385. To accompany this engine evolution, it will now have the same brake package as its ‘big sister’ in the Ligier range, the LMP3 Ligier JS P320.

Uprated Ligier JS2 R

There is more power for the Ligier JS2 R as well, with the Ford 3.7-litre V6 engine increasing from 330 to 350 horsepower. New brake pads and improved aerodynamics are also added to the package and a new, LMP3-style rear wing enhances the racing look of the GT car whilst also upgrading its performance.

Mandatory upgrades for the Ligier single-brand series

The 2022 evolutions of the two cars will be mandatory for brands one-make Series: The Ligier JS Cup France, reserved for the Ligier JS2 R, and the Ligier European Series, which combines the Ligier JS2 R and Ligier JS P4 at the same meetings with the European Le Mans Series and the Michelin Le Mans Cup.

“We discussed these changes at length with the organisers of our single-make series, in addition to the teams and drivers,” said Jacques Nicolet. “In 2022, the Ligier JS Cup France will enter its fourth season with more than 20 entries per meeting. Adding a little more power with more aerodynamics, whilst revamping the look of the Ligier JS2 R, is a terrific response to the drivers’ expectations for a little bit of innovation.

“For the Ligier European Series, at the penultimate round of the season at Spa-Francorchamps, we announced the calendar for the 2022 season with a very nice surprise for the enthusiasts: a round next June on the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans circuit! With the upgrades made to the Ligier JS2 R and the Ligier JS P4, the experience will be even more memorable.”

New car or upgrade kit

All of the new Ligier JS P4 and Ligier JS2 R models will now be sold with these upgrades. Ligier Automotive also has an upgrade kit that the constructor can install on existing models.

In its new configuration, the Ligier JS2 R sells for €99,750 excluding VAT. The evolution kit is available for €9,490 plus VAT.
