MARC Cars has unveiled its newest racer, the GT, ahead of its competitive debut planned for 2022.
The new GT is the MARC’s third new model since 2013, and follows the Australian brand’s first model, (built with both Ford Focus and Mazda3 bodywork), and the Ford Mustang-inspired MARC II V8.
The GT marks an extension of the partnership between MARC Cars and Australian mechanical engineer PACE Innovations, the pair collaborating on the design of the Mercedes-AMG C-Class style bodywork as well as the ChromeMoly Space Frame.
The new GT is powered by a GM, 575hp -litre ‘LS3’ V8, a retuned version of the example found in the fifth generation Camaro SS and C6 Corvette, the first MARC not powered by Ford’s 5.2-litre Coyote V8
MARC Cars is working to complete three examples of the new GT to debut in the brand’s newly-introduced single make series, an affiliation of the Australian Motor Racing Series (AMRS).
“The MARC Focus and Mazda have both been such a successful car for the MARC Cars team and it was a key point for the design brief that we didn’t lose the identity of the previous MARC cars in this new design,” explains MARC Cars Australia owner Geoff Taunton. “Working with PACE Innovations whom have designed our previous MARC Focus / Mazda and MARC II V8, they immediately understood the direction this car needed to go – so we know the quality and finish will be to the highest standard inline with our other models.”
MARC Cars has been a regular competitor in the 24H SERIES since 2015, with the factory team collecting four consecutive class wins with the MARC Focus V8 en-route to that year’s SP2-class title. Since then, MARC Cars has been represented on the 24H SERIES grid by VDS Racing Adventures – with which the Australian marque secured another three SP2-class championships – Qvick-VR Racing, and series staple Cor Euser.
