Phoenix Racing Set To Scale Back Operations

Media reports from Germany have confirmed that long standing GT, one-make and DTM powerhouse team Phoenix Racing is set to be wound up in its current form at the end of 2021 as a lack of factory-backed programmes bites hard on a team resourced to fulfil big-budget efforts.

A new, much smaller, successor team is set to be established in its wake, focused on customer GT and LMP3 racing with around 50% of the current teams staff losing their jobs.

Phoenix Racing are two-time DTM Champions with a Spa 24 Hours overall win and no fewer than five overall ins at the Nurburgring 24 Hours also on their racing record.

DSC believes that the replacement team is set to return to VLN, ADAC GT Masters and Michelin Le Mans Cup in 2022 with customer efforts with other options also on the wish list.

The tie-in as a service provider to Team Wochenspiegel and their GT3 and LMP3 efforts is also set to survive the transition.
