Scott Elkins will add duties as Race Director for the DTM and DTM Trophy to his continuing role with Formula E in 2022.
Elkins replaces Niels Wittich, who will move to Formula 1 as deputy to Race Director Michael Masi.
Elkins’ cv includes a spell in senior positions with IMSA on their technical staff, deputy race director in Formula 1, Formula 2 and Formula 3.
In case of date clashes with Formula E, Oliver Grodowski will be standing in for him as the DTM race director, currently that will be necessary for the races at Portimão (Portugal) and at Norisring.
Christian Vormann will be the deputy in both race series.
Scot Elkins: “The DTM platform is providing unique racing with just one driver per car and the start in DTM formation. I think that I am bringing in a somewhat different approach because of my experience in the US, but I hope that not much will change as a result and that the decisions remain fair and consistent.

Elkins will be present for the DTM test sessions at Hockenheim from 4-6 April and at Portimão on 26/27 April before the DTM season proper f=gets underway 29 April-1 May 2022.
