2020 ADAC GT Masters Champion Christian Engelhart and Porsche Junior Ayhancan Güven will represent Team Joos Sportwagentechnik in the 2022 Championship in the team’s Porsche 911 GT3 R.
“I’m very happy about our driver line-up for the next season,” says team principal Michael Joos. “Christian Engelhart is one of the most successful drivers in the history of the ADAC GT Masters. We will definitely benefit from his speed and great experience. Ayhancan Güven is a great, promising talent who has already shown an impressive level of consistency and success. We want to take the next step with them in our second season in the German GT Championship and fight for race wins and the championship. ”
Christian Engelhart took the 2020 championship at the wheel of a Porsche. With 15 victories, he occupies second place in the all-time best list of the ADAC GT Masters as well as having a Blancpain GT Series Championship and wins at the 24 Hours of Daytona and Dubai on his racing cv. “I’m really looking forward to competing with Michael Joos and his team in the ADAC GT Masters for Porsche,” said the GT veteran. “I have a super-fast partner in my Porsche team-mate Ayhancan and I am sure that we have all the factors together to be successful together. Thanks to all partners, team members and Porsche for their trust. Let’s tackle it! ”
Teammate Güven knows the ADAC GT Masters paddock very well from his time in Porsche Carrera Cup Germany. This year, with four race victories, he was runner-up in the supporting programme of the ADAC GT Masters. Before that, he won the French Carrera Cup twice.
“I’m really looking forward to my debut in the ADAC GT Masters,” says Güven. “With Christian Engelhart, we have ideal conditions to be successful. Together with the Joos Sports Car Technology team, we want to achieve the best possible results for Porsche. ”
Team Joos Sportwagentechnik completed its first full season in the ADAC GT Masters in 2021 after two test runs in the previous year and finished seven times in the top 10 in the 14 races of the season. “We learned a lot in our debut year and want to build on it in 2022,” says Michael Joos . “I would like to expressly thank David Jahn, Marco Holzer and Jannes Fittje for their work with us. They were important building blocks in our debut season in the ADAC GT Masters.”
