New McLaren GT3 Team 7TSIX Bring Flewitt & Hankey For Full 2022 Season

The Intelligent Money British GT Championship will see a new name on the grid, with newly formed GT3 team 7TSIX confirmed for entry into the 2022 season with a McLaren 720S GT3 with 2020 GT4 Pro-Am champions Mia Flewitt and Euan Hankey taking on the challenge of the full nine-round calendar.

The driver pairing of Mia and Euan have enjoyed successes racing and working together over the past few seasons. Supported by Euan as a driver coach and mentor, Mia campaigned in her first GT4 competition during 2017 and claimed the inaugural Pure McLaren GT Series title a year later, securing podiums at each of the 12 rounds including five race wins. A year later, Mia returned to successfully defend her title and made her British GT Championship debut at selected rounds. The pair raced together for the first time at the 2019 Gulf 12 Hours in Abu Dhabi, finishing an impressive 2nd in the GT4 class.

2020 saw the pair ran as a Pro-Am entry in the full British GT championship taking an overall GT4 win at the first round and going on to be crowned Pro-Am champions.

McLaren Factory Driver Euan has worked closely with Mia at each stage of her racing career so far, in the role of driver coach. On track, Euan has competed across multiple series and enjoyed strong success, racing at the highest levels of GT competition. The 34-year-old has scored multiple podiums and race wins across GT4, GT3 and GTE competition, and 2022 will mark his fourth season entry into the British GT championship.

After running successfully in selected rounds during last season, the pair now embark on their greatest challenge to-date with entry into the highly competitive GT3 Pro-Am class.

Ahead of the opening round at Oulton Park over the weekend of 16-18 April, Mia explained: “It has been a rollercoaster ride since I joined the grid for the first time back in 2017, and it is great to continue gathering momentum. I am so pleased to continue my journey with Euan, who has been a key part of each step so far, and we are more motivated than ever for this latest challenge in the British GT championship. I am really excited to be heading back to British GT together with 7TSIX for a Pro-Am championship challenge in the 720S GT3.”

Newly founded by Joe Edge, 7TSIX benefits from a strong team of individuals who have worked closely with the McLaren brand and the 720S GT3.

Heading up the team management is experienced GT racer and engineer Jody Firth who has extensive knowledge of the latest McLaren, having been involved in multiple successful GT3 campaigns across Europe, the Middle East, and North America. Welcome back Jody.

Joe, 7TSIX team owner commented: “It’s a proud moment for me to confirm 7TSIX will race with McLaren Customer Racing as part of the British GT grid, and I am really pleased to welcome Mia and Euan to the team as they take this step up to a full season in GT3 competition. They have shown they have what it takes to compete, and win, and it is going to be really great to work with them both as we join the British GT championship, which has become one of the most highly regarded GT3 competitions. Oulton Park can’t come soon enough. We are looking forward to being out on the grid, and also reviewing other opportunities for racing across Europe this season to hopefully confirm some further plans in the coming weeks.”

The announcement by 7TSIX marks a fourth consecutive season in the British GT championship for the McLaren 720S GT3, with customer teams enjoying success across each of the seasons.
