Salt Lake City, Utah based Zelus Motorsports announced their plans for their second season in the SRO Motorsports America umbrella, with a two-car effort in the GT World Challenge America featuring two Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evos. Their plans also include three cars, including an additional Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4, which have already begun their campaign in the all-Bronze GT America series.
Zelus scored ten podiums in their first season of competition – seven in GT America, two in GT4 America, and one in GT World Challenge America.
Team principal Tigh Isaac confirmed that the duo of Jason Harward and Madison Snow will return for their second GTWC America campaign, after finishing ninth in last year’s Pro-Am Cup standings. Harward, who finished third in last year’s GT America SR03 championship, has already been in action this year on the streets of St. Petersburg, Florida.
Zelus’ second GTWC America entry will be piloted by Jeff Burton – the Utah-based sportscar racer, not to be confused with the NASCAR driver of the same name – and professional driver Corey Lewis, who comes over after a strong season with K-PAX Racing, finishing second in the Pro Cup championship and winning at Circuit of the Americas. Burton was second in last year’s GT America standings.
Joining Burton and Harward in GT America will be the #888 Vantage GT4, driven by Sean Whalen, who drove this car with Isaac in last year’s final GT4 America meeting at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
“Coming into our second season as a team, I am ambitious about achieving great results,” said team principal Isaac. “The entire Zelus Motorsports team has been working hard during the off season to prepare. Between all of our drivers, I feel like we have a deep talent pool. The crew looks forward to another awesome year.”
