Paradine Competition has revealed that ex-BTCC racer Bobby Thompson will rejoin the team for the penultimate round of the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup this weekend at the Nürburgring.
Thompson, who competed with the team earlier in the season at Monza, will share the team’s #992 BMW M4 GT3 EVO with Christian Hahn and Josh Rowledge in Silver Cup, who are looking to bounce back from their retirement at the Spa 24 Hours.
“I’m really excited and happy to get the call-up from Paradine Competition to jump back in the #992 BMW for this weekend,” Thompson said. “This weekend, it feels a little different. I’ve raced the car at Monza, I know how the team work and how they go racing. I feel like that takes a bit of weight off my shoulders. I know what to expect of a GT World Challenge Europe weekend.
“That being said, it is, in my opinion, one of the hardest race series in the world. I’m absolutely loving getting these opportunities to hop in, learn from and race with the best and keep adding up race time in a GT3 car and getting as much experience as I can with the team, with the car, and with the series. It’s nice that I’m with exactly the same car and the same teammates, so I’m really excited to get going and can’t wait.”
Meanwhile, Paradine’s other M4 GT3 EVO which competes in the Bronze Cup class, will be shared by James Kellett, team owner Darren Leung and factory driver Dries Vanthoor. Vanthoor also rejoins the #991 for his second planned start of the season in place of Robert De Haan. He last outing with the outfit was the season opener at Paul Ricard.
