High Class Racing Audi Returns

High Class Racing has confirmed its second entry for the 2022 Fanatec GT2 European Series with the return of the Audi R8 LMS GT2 entry that took the series title last year.

The Audi will join the Brabham BT63 Concept entry confirmed earlier this week for the team.

High Class Racing is the reigning ProAm Champion, taking 5 wins, 8 podiums, 8 Fastest Laps and 2 Pole Positions last season with Anders Fjordbach and Mark Patterson. The car returns in 2022 with a new team pairing, Aurelijus Rusteika and Michael Vergers aboard the Audi.

Both drivers well know each other after achieving a third place in the Pro Am class in 2021 in a Speed factory-run Porche, including four podiums so now they join High Class Racing with the clear target of fighting for the title.

“High Class Racing was always the team setting the benchmark in last years’ inaugural Fanatec GT2 European Championship and to then be asked by Aurelijus to join him aboard their Audi GT2 for the 2022 season is something I can’t wait to start with. Aurelijus already showed impressive speed and progress in his 1st season in European racing on circuits that he had never raced on and so to continue with the championship winning team for 2022 will give us a good shot at racing for the overall wins and a possible championship”, said Vergers.

“I am very happy to join the GT2 European Series again in 2022. This will be my second season of competition at this level. We signed a contract with last year’s winner, the High Class Racing team. I believe their knowledge and racing experience will allow me to continue to improve as a racer. I am very happy to have a Pro race driver Michael Vergers with me on the team this year again. He is an amazing man, a coach, a partner and a top class racer. My goal for 2022 is to enjoy with new fast car, racing experience, and to go for the highest awards”, added Rusteika.

The Fanatec GT2 European Series gets underway at Imola, Italy, on 1-3 April.
