A positive test for COVID 19 for Team Korthoff’s Mike Skeen will see Dirk Müller stand in aboard the #32 Mercedes AMG at Laguna Seca this weekend.
The ex BMW and Ford factory driver will join Stevan McAleer for the weekend, Müller’s second AMG drive of the season after forming part of the crew for the Multimatic-staffed, Proton USA effort at the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona in January.
It’s partially bd luck for Skeen as the full-season pairing currently lead in the IMSA GTD points standings and any score for McAleer in California is likely to count out his team-mate in a Drivers Championship run after a run of strong early season results.
“I am sure they will do a killer job for Team Korthof, ” said Skeen in a social media post. “The highs and lows of motorsport life can be pretty big, going from a win on Sunday to quarantined in a hotel room isn’t fun, but I will watch with interest and see the crew back at Mid-Ohio.”
