Kurtz Quickest In GT America Practice At VIR

CrowdStrike CEO leads the way in SRO3 class; Jason Bell fastest of the GT4 runners

George Kurtz led both practice sessions for the GT America powered by AWS series at VIRginia International Raceway, his #04 CrowdStrike Racing by Riley Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT3 setting the pace in the SRO3 category.

Kurtz led the way in Practice 1 this morning, setting a best lap time of 1’46.041 which would stand as the best time of the day in the all-Bronze sprint series’ practices.

The president and CEO of CrowdStrike would follow that up with a 1’47.645 to lead the way in Practice 2, whereby the afternoon, the temperatures had risen dramatically, to over 36°C ambient and 51°C surface!

With Kurtz leading all of the current and former GT3 runners, the top three in Practice 1 was completed by the #191 Zelus Motorsports Lamborghini Huracan GT3 of Utah’s Jeff Burton in second, and the #56 SKI Autosports Ferrari 458 Italia GT3 of the ageless Andy Pilgrim in third.

In Practice 2, the #88 Zelus Lamborghini “Bullnicorn” of Jason Harward was second ahead of his team mate Burton in third.

Similarly in GT4, one man led the way in both practices, Jason Bell in the #2 GMG Racing Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4.

Bell led Practice 1 with a 1’55.289, just ahead of Chris Gumprecht’s #79 RENNtech Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT4 in second, and Adam Adelson’s #120 Premier Racing Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport RS in third.

A time of 1’56.892 would suffice for Bell to edge out video game heir Gray Newell in the #25 Heart of Racing Team Vantage GT4 in second, and Moisey Uretsky in the #55 Accelerating Performance Vantage GT4 in third.

The #58 GMG Racing Audi R8 LMS GT2 of CJ Moses, in a class of his own, clocked a best time of 1’52.923 in Practice 2, he did not get a chance to post a time in Practice 1.

Session 1 was interrupted by a 12-minute red flag, while Session 2 ran without any reported issues.

25 of the 27 entered vehicles took to the track for these practice sessions, the two outliers are the #19 NOLASPORT Cayman of Alain Stad, and the #888 Zelus Vantage of Lions, not Sheep proprietor Sean Whalen.
