Turner Motorsport Colours Appear On Walkenhorst Silver Cup Spa 24 Hours Entry

Driver Robby Foley comments on the mini-collaboration and prospects of success

Walkenhorst Motorsport are entering two BMW M4 GT3s in this year’s 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps. One of their cars, their Silver Cup class #34 entry, has a very familiar look to it.

Revealed over the weekend, the #34 Walkenhorst BMW will carry the familiar colours of top American BMW racing team Turner Motorsport.

Designed by friend of the programme Andy Blackmore, the livery incorporates Turner’s signature blue and yellow colourway from their mainline IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship efforts, and the zebra camouflage pattern of their GT World Challenge America operation – along with the word “Tacos” on virtually every body panel, a nod to Turner Motorsport founder and namesake Will Turner’s well-documented love of the tasty treats.

The “WalkenTurner” BMW features three regular members of the Turner Motorsport family in its driver lineup: Michael Dinan, Robby Foley, and Jens Klingmann, who are joined by Richard Heistand, a regular of Turner’s GTD rivals Vasser Sullivan Racing.

Some form of Turner involvement in the Spa 24 Hours has been in the works for several months. Foley, who races full-time for Turner in both IMSA and GT World Challenge, admitted that, in terms of this being a partnership, that “there is nothing formal outside of a similar looking livery, but of course with Michael, Jens and myself all driving for Turner it’s cool to have a reunion outside of the US at the biggest GT3 race in the world.”

“I think the goal is to have a mistake free race,” Foley said about the team’s prospects going into the weekend. “With all the modifications to the track it will be really easy to get stuck in the gravel, so we’re gonna try to minimize time lost to have a shot at the win.”
