Dries Vanthoor will replace René Rast in the #31 Team WRT ORECA 07 for the 6 Hours of Fuji on 11 September.
Rast is one of three drivers, together with Nico Müller and Nick Cassidy, that will miss the Japanese round of the 2022 FIA World Endurance Championship because of a clash with DTM’s Spa round.
Cassidy is set to be replaced in the #54 AF Corse Ferrari in GTE AM by Davide Rigon whilst no replacement has yet been announced for Müller in the #10 Vector Sport ORECA.
The Fuji race will be Vanthoor’s fourth WEC appearance, but his first outside of Le Mans where he won GTE Am in 2017 with JMW Motorsport. He contested the 2022 Le Mans 24 Hours with WRT in their Le Mans only #32 entry alongside Mirko Bortolotti and Rolf Ineichen finishing 11th in class.
