The first stage of the 2023 FIA Driver Rankings process is live with the current published list now showing 194 drivers who are under review for a variety of reasons.
Whilst some are being reviewed on the basis of racing performance, others are either contract-related (ie those who now are retained as a factory driver), whilst others still are age-related with the regulations specifying that drivers rankings are reduced upon reaching certain ages.
These are the first changes to take place under a revised system announced earlier this year
Amongst the latter are Rubens Barrichello, who featured in the Italian Endurance Championship two weeks ago, his Platinum ranking is under review as is now 60 year old Johnny O’Connell, currently ranked Silver. His ex-Corvette racing team-mate Oliver Gavin hits 50 later this month and, as a result, his Platinum ranking is under review too, as is currently gold-rated Rui Aguas who turned 50 earlier this year together with the now similarly half-centenarian Jos Verstappen. Jamie Campbell Walter is another driver with a big birthday later this year and he too looks set to drop from his current Gold ranking.
A raft of newly appointed factory talent look set to be re-ranked as Platinum from Gold including: Dane Cameron (Porsche), Matt Campbell (Porsche), Mathieu Jaminet (Porsche), Mikkel Jensen (Peugeot), Gustavo Menezes (Peugeot), Nicklas Nielsen (Ferrari), Alessio Rovera (Ferrari), Sheldon van der Linde (BMW), Renger van der Zande (Cadillac), and Nick Yelloly (BMW).
A significant proportion of the changes involve currently silver-ranked drivers affected by the changes in the ranking criteria and with the potential to be re-graded as Gold, those include:

Notably, too some talented Bronzes are, somewhat controversially up for review including Ahmad Al Harthy, Andrew Bentley, Josh Caygill, Charles Crews, Jerome de Sadeleer, Conrad Grunewald, Freddie Hunt, Richard Heistand, Ben Keating, Kristian Poulsen and Tom van Rompuy.
Notably, three of the current four driver line-up for the Iron Dames programme are up for review with Bronze-rated Sarah Bovy, Silver-ranked Michelle Gatting and Gold-rated Rahel Frey all on the list
If a substantial proportion of the list below are indeed reclassified it will have a substantial impact on the plans of a number of significant teams in SRO, ACO and IMSA competition.
